Learning Content
In recent years, Minimal Intervention Dentistry (MID) has gained a great deal of interest in the field of paediatric dentistry. In this workshop organised by the DentAlliance, you will learn techniques on how to facilitate a child’s preventive visit to the dentist at one year old. Moreover, an introduction to oral care techniques such as the application of Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) and the placement of stainless steel crowns to manage caries in young children without the use of local anaesthesia will be elaborated. When local anaesthesia is required, our trainers will demonstrate the use of computer-assisted delivery such as the STA Wand machine and share tips on behaviour management strategies to minimise pain for anxious children and adult patients.
Aims and Objectives:
- To learn how to facilitate the young child’s 1st dental visit, clinical tips on how to carry out examination in the young child, how to do caries risk assessment and provide anticipatory guidance.
- To learn about Silver Diamine Fluoride, and understand the indications and case selection, clinical procedure and how to counsel patients prior to the procedure.
- To learn about the biological basis of Hall Technique, case selection including indications and contraindications, clinical procedure and tips and tricks for fitting the stainless steel crowns.
- Learn how to use Computer assisted local anaesthesia delivery in your everyday clinical practice.
- Learn about behaviour management strategies on how to prepare and deliver local anaesthesia safely in a young child or anxious patient.
