Claire teaches Periodontology & Implant Dentistry at Kings College London and at NYU in New York. She is an honorary clinical fellow at Guys and St. Thomas’ NHS Trust and treats patients in private specialist practice in London.
She graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2000 and has 24 years clinical experience working in specialist referral restorative and prosthodontic practices. Claire has been faculty for 19 years teaching on undergraduate and post-graduate dentistry programmes, dental hygiene & therapy, and on the MSc Periodontology Programme at KCL. She also teaches post-graduate periodontology and international implant students at NYU since 2014.
She completed a master’s degree in Higher Education in 2007 and is fellow of the Higher Education Academy. On completion of her MA, she became the course coordinator of the BDS year 1 and 2 periodontology programme at King’s College London, a position she held for eight years before embarking on a PhD. Claire has also worked in dental research since 2005, as a trial coordinator for clinical and non-clinical trials. She is a recipient of the Robin Davies Oral & Dental Research Award 2020, the Vivienne Wohl scholarship award and was recognised for her contribution to oral health promotion in 2016. She has presented her research at IADR and EFP Europerio conferences.
She lectures nationally and internationally as well as delivering hands on courses in all aspects of non-surgical periodontal and implant therapy. Claire has delivered CPD training for HEE and deaneries across the UK since 2005. She is a published author in peer-review journals and has contributed to two textbooks and consults practice owners, dental teams and industry on non-surgical therapy, dental devices, instrument design and on patient and public engagement. Claire is an active member of many professional organisations and has been invited speaker for the BSP, ADI, BSDHT, BADT, MADH, IFDH, TPS, IDHA at regional and national meetings.
